Annual 2017 Conference:
Innovative Solutions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
The 2017 Conference was hosted by the Sciences Po School of Public Affairs and focused on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Students were encouraged to develop solution oriented ideas or prototypes that use policy innovation, ICTs, and/or data analytics to address public policy challenges that have been identified by the selected Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Keynote speakers and additional jury members included Dr. Richard Horton, Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet, Anne-Marie Idrac, Former French Minister of Transportation and Foreign Trade and Laurence Tubiana, President of the French Development Agency and the French Representative at the COP21.
At the conference, 32 student teams from the GPPN member schools presented their projects in the "180 seconds competition" before a jury of the deans from each school. These inspiring projects spanned cities, countries and continents and covered all of the selected SDGs, with topics related to urban development, fighting against STDs, measuring our well-being, and so much more.
Of the 32 teams, six teams were selected as finalists to move on to day two, where they presented their creative solutions in greater depth, and our judges had the chance to give them feedback. At the end of the two days, the jury was proud to announce the winning team I-Care from SIPA Columbia as the recipient of the GPPN prize.
